Cannot Make a Backup to the Internet
Problem: You cannot make a backup to the Internet
Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
You may have your FIREWALL program setup to BLOCK any attempt by the backup module (GolfSoftwareToWeb.exe) to upload files to the internet. Shut the firewall down or set it to allow this program internet access. Unfortunately I cannot give step by step here because all firewall programs are so different.
If you have one of the following security programs, you can see their manual at the following links:
Norton: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/docid/2002091708325336 (program control)
McAfee: http://download.mcafee.com/products/manuals/en-us/ppp_userguide_2007.pdf (p. 132 program permissions)
ZoneAlarm: http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/media/pdf/zaplus_manual.pdf (program control; program access control)
Windows XP: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/security/winfirewall.mspx
If this is a new problem after installing 2008 version(s) of our software, you might try reinstalling. During the install, when prompted about allowing, click on the option for allowing. Another option with a new install is to set the permission again in your firewall program for this new install. Sometimes a firewall will consider a new version of the program as a separate program, so that the previous permission does not apply to the new version.
If this does not work...
You may have installed an Adware/Spyware blocking software that thinks our program is trying a "malicious" upload of files. Most likely this is the problem. Uninstall this adware/spyware program or set it to allow GolfSoftwareToWeb.exe to allow file uploads to the internet.
Something is not allowing the backup module (GolfSoftwareToWeb.exe) to upload to the Internet. This issue is caused by one or more of the following:
1. firewall in...
a. operating system
b. stand alone software
c. router (try connecting directly to your modem, by-passing your router)
d. network
e. etc.
2. anti-spyware software
3. anti-adware software
4. anti-virus software (one customer disabled the outgoing email scan in Kaspersky AntiVirus software)
5. browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, etc.) toolbars that include one or more of 1~3
6. Other
Does any one of these items exist for your computer?
